The history of 91短视频 is one that is steeped in prayer, sacrifice and the perseverance of many individuals and families who caught a vision for the necessity of a Christian school in Melbourne鈥檚 north eastern suburbs. While 2021 was the year we celebrated forty years since the first day of school, our rich history began long before the first brick was even laid at 840 Yan Yean Road.

A Rich History

1960s

Faithful Beginnings

A small group of Christian parents begin attending meetings of the Victorian Association of Parent-controlled Schools. They are continually encouraged to form an association with the forward thought of starting a parent-controlled school in the Diamond Valley area.

1970s

Dedication and Sacrifice

After a decade of planning, praying, sacrificing, and saving, the Association for Parent-Controlled Christian Schools in the Diamond Valley purchases 20 acres of land on Yan Yean Road in Doreen for $70,000.

1980s

First Day of School

On Tuesday 3 February 1981, Mr Ray Meers, head teacher, and 15 students officially begin Plenty Valley Christian School in Mernda while the Doreen school site is still under construction.

1983 鈥 A symbolic walk takes place on October 22 to the new site at Yan Yean Rd, Doreen 鈥 now a community of about 20 families and 45 primary aged children.

In February 1984, the first Year 7 class commences, with 12 students.

1990s

Secondary Expansion

Construction begins of the secondary area including the Library, Art Room, Home Economics kitchen, Technology Room and Business Studies Room

In 1991, the first Year 12 Class begins with school captains Brialie Alford and Andrew Broen.

The secondary extension is officially opened by founding members and international visitors, including the Cedarville Singers.

In the 90鈥檚, Secondary electives include rollerblading and ballroom dancing!

2000s

A Name Change

Prime Minister John Howard visits PVCS for 2 hours, speaking at a primary assembly and to VCE students. He also writes a five page letter to students in Prep and Year 1 in response to a book they have made for him.

Plenty Valley Christian School becomes 91短视频, and the college embraces a millennial approach to education.

 

2010s

21st Century Growth

$2.5m expansion of Primary school classrooms, including interactive whiteboards in every class.

$3.5m Multi-Purpose Hall development and adjacent amphitheatre, external courts and landscaping as well as classrooms with interactive whiteboards, administration offices, meeting rooms and amenities block.

$2.4m development of ovals, bus shelters, and wetland area.

Introduction of the iPad program.

Refurbishment of the Grade 5/6 classrooms.

$4.4m Early Learning Centre and Primary Early Years building.

Plenty Kids Kindergarten celebrates their inaugural year in 2018!

2020s

Bright Futures

Student population of approximately 830 from Kinder to Year 12, with 115 staff.

Secondary Covered Walkways project is underway, and the college celebrates 40 years of God鈥檚 grace and faithfulness.
